Honestly disturbing how many of my posts criticizing media get responses along the lines of "well, guess I'm not watching/reading/listening to this now :/"
That is not a healthy way to view media. You all know that, right? It is not healthy to completely brush something off because of criticism from one person, and it's certainly not healthy to interpret that criticism as saying that something is irredeemable.
When I criticize media, I'm not saying "this is evil and terrible and disgusting and no one should ever like it or enjoy it". I'm saying "this has some issues, same as anything else, and we should discuss those issues in a healthy and constructive way." I am telling people to come to their conclusions using the information and opinions I've shared combined with their own experiences and opinions on the matter.
God. Stop "cancelling" Animal Crossing or Percy Jackson or whatever and just learn to be critical of the media you consume instead of accepting everything, positive or negative, at face value.

a single instance would be referred to as a cherub, a seraph, a nephil, et cetera
these words originated from hebrew, and in hebrew -im and -ot are our plural endings. so if you say, like, nephilim in order to refer to a single nephil, it’s like you’re saying “look, a dogs!” it just doesn’t match up and you look really silly

If you aren’t cisgender heteroromantic heterosexual, you belong in the queer community. I’m sick of seeing this bullshit “you aren’t queer enough” sort of community policing.
And by “cisgender heteroromantic heterosexual” I mean ALL THREE of those things.
Are you a trans (binary or nonbinary) person who is attracted sexually and romantically to the opposite gender? You belong in the LGBTA+ community.
Are you a cis person who is heteroromantic asexual? You belong.
Are you a cis person who is heterosexual aromantic? You belong.
Are you a cis bisexual who is currently dating a cis member of the opposite gender? You belong.
Are you an intersex individual who otherwise is heteroromantic heterosexual? You belong.
Stop trying to alienate people based on some fucked-up “level of queerness”. There are enough problems in the LGBTA+ community without people being exclusive.

im gonna be so honest if u get upset because people found content in a piece of media you like to be justifiably offensive and start fucking raging on them that's like. not good. like if you ARE going to consume problematic media or whatever you need to be critical of it and you can't just get really fucking mad when people say that it's problematic if it is. don't be blind to the things you consume think critically about them and respect people who don't want to interact with them
to add onto this im not saying you cant enjoy media that isnt perfect. almost no media is perfect most all of it has some shitty element that makes you grit your teeth and be like “ew.” (some media is irredeemable. most media is ok but has bad elements. all media needs to be consumed with critical thinking skills.) the issue is when people point out “im not comfortable with this thing/i dont like this thing because of x, y, and z” and you start fucking tearing into them like a wild dog. if someone doesnt like a work of fiction then they dont like it point blank period and you literally do not need to get mad about it
I’ve seen a lot of posts on my dash tonight about users who are threatening suicide, with other Tumblr members posting in effort to try to get ahold of them. I think you all should see this:
IF THERE IS EVER A TUMBLR USER WHO HAS POSTED A GOOD-BYE MESSAGE, SUICIDE NOTE, VIDEO, OR ANYTHING OF THE SORT, PLEASE FOLLOW THIS POST.
1. Scroll to the top of your dashboard.
2. See the circular question mark icon at the top? It’s the third one over from your home symbol. Click on that, and a screen similar to the one in the picture will come up.
3. Where you can type in questions, the box with the magnifying glass at the top, type in the word “suicide.”
4. Click on the first link that shows up. It should say, “Pass the URL of the blog on to us.”
5. Type in the user’s URL and tell Tumblr admin that the user is contemplating suicide and has posted a message indicating that they are going through with it or will be attempting. Hit send! Tumblr administration will perform a number of actions to contact the user and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide.
TUMBLR: THIS COULD SAVE A USER’S LIFE. PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE SUICIDE THREATS.
Reblog this to keep other users aware. Suicide isn’t a joke, and neither is someone’s life. If you didn’t know this, someone else may not, either. Pass it on.
